About Our Club |
January 2021 Update: We are now a Weekly club: We alternate between In-Person-with-Zoom meetings and Zoom-only meetings. We have 3 members from Japan, 3 from Southern Africa, 3 from the US and2 from the Eastern States.
Our club held its Demonstration Meeting on 8th March 2015 so that makes our great sociable club a whole 5 yers old. We have come a long way in our 5 short years. We had over 30 guests at our meeting, including the whole District Executive. We chartered with 25 members on 18th June (our other birthday) after only 10 meetings. Of the 25 charter members, 15 were brand new to Toastmasters, 2 came back after a break, and 8 were members of other clubs.
Our meetiings have memorable themes with speeches, evaluations and laughter. We are always happy for members to invite along friends and family members plus of course we love to have visitors from other Toastmasters Clubs from around the globe to come to share our meetings.
Since moving to zoom meetings a month ago, we have been joined online by club members, former club members and a growing number of guests from locations around the world.

The Toastmasters Mission A statement of shared values
Every Toastmasters club shares the same mission, clearly defined in the following mission statement:
We provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.
Through this mission, each Toastmaster gains a clear understanding of the club's purpose, and the organization as a whole benefits from a shared set of values and goals.

Everyone in a Toastmasters meeting was once at the level you are now. The environment is friendly and supportive, and the self-paced programme allows you to build confidence with each speaking assignment.
- A typical club has between 20 to 40 members who meet either weekly, biweekly or monthly. An evening meeting normally lasts around 90- 120 minutes.
- There is no instructor in a Toastmasters meeting. Instead, members evaluate one another’s presentations, pointing out the strengths and suggesting improvements. This feedback process is a key part of the program’s success. Members also give impromptu talks on assigned topics, conduct meetings and develop their leadership skills.
-
We learn through the Toastmasters Pathways learning experience, an exciting, flexible and interactive way to develop your skills and help others in your club develop theirs. Pathways helps you learn communication and leadership skills that you need to succeed. It gives you:
- The opportunity to build up to 300 unique competencies
- 10 specialized learning paths to choose from
- Online content, so that you can learn anytime, anywhere
- Real-world, transferable skills
One thing that you'll love at Toastmasters meetings is the applause. At first you'll be applauded for your effort; later you'll be applauded for your skill.
